The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done, but cannot do at all, or cannot do so well for themselves, in their separate and individual capacities.(p.80)
When Congress met early in December, the perplexed and venerable Buchanan, fearful of secession but still sympathetic toward his Southern friends and the Southern point of view, asserted in his annual message that while a state could not lawfully secede, neither could the Federal government coerce it. He proposed to quiet Southern fears by calling a constitutional convention to frame amendments guaranteeing slavery in the states and territories, and assuring the recovery of runaway slaves.(p.228)
Steele's Blueprint for Tomorrow
We're posting this message about Michael Steele's Blueprint For Tomorrow - En-Route to a Republican Revolution that he distributed to RNC members
This week, Michael Steele released his Blueprint For Tomorrow - En-Route to a Republican Revolution to the Republican National Committee members. This first installment of the plan describes the current landscape how we got here and where Michael believes we can go together as a Party. In coming weeks, there will be additional installments that discuss in greater detail each step Lt. Governor Steele thinks we should pursue to get the GOP moving again.
Please click here to review the Blueprint online.
Once you have had a chance to read the first chapter of the Blueprint we want your input.
So please consider this first installment a sincere invitation to share your experience, suggestions, ideas, and concerns with Michael and our campaign team. We need your feedback.
Please share your ideas with Michael online -- in a text or through our blog at http://steeleforchairman.com/index.php
The Lt. Governor looks forward to your comments, and appreciates your support.
Thank you,
Steele for Chairman

College Students
As an alumni of the University of Kansas; and seeing how the college students across the country support Democrat ideas over Republicans tells me that they really don't understand how it works in the real world. So I think we need an emphasis on younger people.
Second, Acorn - I cannot believe the Republicans ever let this organization get going or funded them in any way. Black Panthers at our election booths in 2008 should tell us something about how far off the scale they are. We complain during the election years and then fold the rest of the time.
I am totally supportive of you and will do what I can to help.
My 96 year old father; who is a huge Republican is totally happy with your pick. He really wanted you to run for president. He is a Kansas farmer and a graduate of Un. of Ks. too.
Have a good day.
